News
– Netflix adds new Marvel shows to its selection, including titles like Iron Man: Armored Adventures, Astonishing X-Men: Gifted (Marvel Knights Animation), Silver Surfer, and Spider-Man Unlimited. With more to come in the summer, we’re hoping they add our own childhood favourites!
– Blockbuster Canada has entered receivership (which isn’t as bad as it sounds). It simply means that it’s up for sale to cover the debts incurred by Blockbuster USA and is still remarkably profitable, generating $400 million in 2010.
– Netflix is said to be seeking media rights in Latin America. While it’s still unclear which countries are being looked at specifically, it’s certain that bandwidth availability will play a large role in their decision.

Ha ha. Not quite, merely a gender friendly theatre adaptation I was in back in college and the name stuck in my head. I knew as soon as I said it I should have corrected myself but I didn’t think anyone would notice 🙂
Also, for the record, lots of women like Black Dynamite. I’m going to take you to task on this one, and say that folks (man or woman) who don’t like Exploitation might not like it.
Don’t sell a great movie short to 50% of the population
True, folks who don’t like exploitation might not like it, but I’d also argue that women who don’t like sexist humor may not like it. I think it’s fair to argue that men are more likely to enjoy the film than women. I’d equally argue that women are more likely to enjoy films like romantic comedies than men. I don’t make unilateral claims about which genders will absolutely enjoy or dislike which films, but I think it’s fair to suggest that certain people are more likely to watch certain films.
At the end of the day, that’s all they are: suggestions. But it’s awesome that you and your friends liked the movie! You’ve got good taste 🙂

I would argue that romantic comedies are more aggressively marketed towards women then men and that Black Dynamite is sending up sexism buuuuuut let’s agree to disagree. This internet troll has left her bridge unguarded for too long.

I actually have a challenge for you. An all TERRIBLE movies show. And you live tweet them. And one of the movie has to be 8213: Gacy House. It looks to be a new classic of bad taste
From the brief description Netflix gave me, it sounds like the most tasteless piece of crap ever, but I guess that’s the point. 🙂
Besides, it sounds like a fun challenge! We’ve already got our lineup for the next episode set, but I think that’s definitely something we’ll consider for the following episode.
